Kinesiology Tape

Kinesio Taping is a special type of athletic tape that is designed to support muscles, joints, and the lymphatic system during physical activity. It is widely used by athletes, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals.

Uses:

  • It is designed to mimic the properties of human skin, allowing for a comfortable and effective application. The tape is stretchy and flexible, which allows it to move with the body and provide support without restricting movement.
  • Kinesio Taping works by lifting the skin away from the underlying tissues, creating little pockets of space that allows for improved circulation and reduced swelling and inflammation. This can help to relieve pain and promote healing in injured or overused muscles and joints and decrease fluid buildup in the tissues, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals with swollen joints or lymphedema.
  • In addition to its pain-relieving properties, Kinesio Taping can also be used to improve muscle function and performance or decrease muscle overactivity.
  • Depending on how it is applied, how much tension is put on the tape the tape can help to enhance muscle activation and coordination, resulting in improved movement and better overall performance.
  • Pei-Jiun has used it multitudes of times for reducing swelling in ankles, knees, reducing spinal muscle tightness, helping activate more VMO’s (knee stabilisers) and supporting overloaded wrist extensors (supporting tennis elbows), decreasing headache symptoms.

If you have sore, painful areas, muscles that are too tight, joints that feel wobbly, musclesyou have trouble activating, ask your physio to see if Kinesio Taping will be suitable for you.
